Alright guys just wanted to let you know that I am back.  I am currently getting deployed to Afghanistan.  So I have been away for training for the past two months.  So I apologise for not posting.  I have a lot of stuff to talk about.  A few things I will be going over is the Condor Tactical Gloves.  Also will be blogging about The Contour HD/GPS cameras(hopefully with some good videos).  I will be testing out the Condor 1 point sling as well.  So please stay tuned for these three blogs to hit in about a week or so.

Is it really the “Ultra” shot?

Posted: June 13, 2011 by uoarmory in Hard Goods

Well I finally decided to go out to the range and test this out. I was a bit apprehensive at first, but I must say, I am very impressed. The Ultra Shot Pro turned out to be a great halo sight at an affordable price.

After getting the sight attached to my M4 (which was super easy with the QD mount) I sighted in and was ready to go. After a few turns my sight was on POI. The ultra shot features the Interlok™ internal locking system which allows you to lock in the reticle on your POI. You can then remove the Ultra shot from your rifle, re-attache and you should be good to go. I did this and surprisingly did not have to sight back in. After a few bursts down range the sight was working great. With the Ultra Shot you have four patterns to work with; you have your cross hair, dot, bulls eye, and star burst. I personally prefer the star burst pattern, I was able to find it a lot faster than the others, but this is just a personal preference. The sight also has five adjustable brightness levels. After getting everything dialed in I was very happy with the sight. The sight picture was very clear and I had no issues with the sight picture while firing.

The Ultra shot is very light; it weighs in at 7.1oz. It is made of a composite material with a surrounding metal shell. I was very impressed when I first pulled the sight out of the box, it feels very sturdy. I have yet to put this through any hard fighting but I’m sure this will withstand some of the toughest situations.

All in all I am very happy with this sight! I had no problems at all with this sight. One thing that did bother me a tad bit was the batter, it takes a CR1620. I would have preferred an AA but hey, I can’t always win!

More Boot for your Buck!

Posted: April 25, 2011 by uoarmory in Soft Goods

I hope all you UOA followers had a great Easter with your family. Now back to the grind. For my first actual review I will be going through the Altama Tan Desert Mil spec boot. If your having trouble finding a good boot for either duty or weekend fun, then this boot is for you. I have been rolling with these boots for years now. They have also went through a deployment to Iraq. I have ventured out to other boots, and tried going with the more comfortable style boot, but that was a mistake. I got blisters almost instantly. The Altama Deserts are by far the best boot out there.

The Desert Mil Specs are designed and manufactured for extreme wear. They are reasonably lightweight and very well priced. The sole, which is vulcanized rubber (a chemical process which makes the rubber very durable) last a really long time. The panama sole pattern is in my opinion the most versatile sole pattern out there. It has coolmax lining which is ideal for super hot environments. Plus these bad boys are made right here in the good old USA.

I hope you guys take my advice on these boots. Like I said some of the best boots ever.

You can find the boots here

Sincerely Mr. TACGUY

New Guy On Campus!

Posted: April 21, 2011 by uoarmory in Random Thoughts

Alright listen up all you Urban Ops followers there is a new guy on campus and its me. Call me Mr. K. Ill be your new tester for the great products that you can get at Urban Ops Armory. Ill start off by saying thanks to Urban Ops and Jon for giving me this opportunity to work with them on all of their products that they have on stock at www.uoarmory.com.

First things first, a little about who I am and what makes me tick. I am from the great state of Nebraska. Born and raised in the small town of Wayne. Have lived here my whole life and do not plan to move anytime. I joined the Army at the age of 21 and have been in ever since. I have been deployed once to Iraq and am about a month away from a deployment to Afghanistan. I have been a hardcore paintballer since 97 and into the tactical scene since 01. Now enough about me.

From now on I will be a key contributor into reviews on all of UOA’s great tactical gear and equipment. Once new gear comes out I will be testing it in some rough environments and letting you guys know what I think. We will have a list of future gear that will be blogged about and possible dates that the reviews will be out. One of the first though will be the new Contour HD camera with RIS mount. I will have videos and picture from the camera in some of the training that I have coming up for my deployment to Afghanistan. Then once overseas I will be posting more on how it is performing. Also will hopefully have videos off of it from there as well.

If you knuckle heads have anything that you would like to see tested and reviewed on let me know and we can get it done. Also if you have any questions about anything please feel free to post.

Once again I would like to thank the guys at UOA for giving me this opportunity to be your go to guy on all the gear available on the site.

Sincerely Mr. TACGUY

P.S. Remember to thank a Soldier, Airman, Marine and Seaman for the great job they are doing for our country and sacrifices they have made.
